The well-known brand String was founded by Nisse and Kasja Strinning from Sweden. They invented the well-known wall system in the late 1940s. This became such a success worldwide that many replicas also came onto the market. The String brand still makes wall systems, but the original sets from the 1960s are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain.
